RABBITS
Common Form:
Rabbits (oryctolagus
cuniculus)
Importance:
Rabbits cause
damage by both digging and feeding. Rabbit burrows can undermine embankments
and structures, causing collapse. Burrows can also damage the surfaces of golf
courses, bowling greens and cricket pitches. Feeding damage by rabbits can be
severe, market gardens and allotments can suffer seroius losses to their crops.
Control:
Control is achieved
by either trapping or gassing, although in rural areas, shooting may be effective.
